Weekend with family

We traveled to Huntsville this past weekend to visit with my parents and re-celebrate Zoey's birthday and Father's Day. We had a great time. I had to share these precious pictures that my sister and mom took of Zoey eating her cupcake. She didn't hesitate at all this time to dig into that yummy icing! She was not shy about shoving the cupcake in and enjoying every bite of it!Again we had to opt for the sink bath and even put her in ,in her clothes, which helped to wash the icing out of that too. We ate way too much, although it was very delicious- fried catfish, hushpuppies, corn, fried okra, cornbread (all of this was not at the same meal although I probably could if it was in front of me). Saturday my sister Lee and two of my nieces Emily and Suzanna, came up for the day. We ran some errands around town and then that afternoon Vince helped them shoot off Mentos rockets. Have any of you heard of this? It's like an episode of Myth Busters. If you mix Mento's Candy and Diet Soda, it will propel a rocket up in the air. You can buy it in a kit, my mom had bought them for the girls. It was really cool. Saturday night Vince, Madison and I went to see Indiana Jones for Vince's Father's Day gift. We had a great time actually getting to go to a movie and we really enjoyed it. Sunday morning we got up and went to church with my parents to show off the girls. All mom and dad's friends enjoyed getting to see them, it's been a while since we've been up there for the whole weekend and the first time since bringing Zoey home. It was a wonderful relaxing weekend. Happy Father's Day to all you dad's out there. I hope you had a great day!

Birthday Pics

Here are some pictures from Zoey's birthday and birthday party. We put this princess hat on her the morning of her birthday. She wore it all day, even at daycare if 0ne of the other children pulled it off she would walk over to one of the teachers with it in her hands for them to put it back on her. It was hysterical, she thought she was queen for a day, which she was of course (everyday actually).
She had yummy homemade Lasagna for dinner (one of her favorites). Of course she got as much in her hair and on her face as she got in her mouth. We had to hose her off in the sink! Scout enjoyed Zoey's birthday dinner too!
We've decide this is the bath of choice from now on, it was much easier and she enjoyed it!

Saturday was her birthday party and our cookout. Well, as we all know who live in the south, it has gotten entirely too HOT too quick this summer. It's not supposed to be 95 until late July or August. Our cookout became a cook the food out and eat it in. It was so hot that by the time everyone left our house our air was set on 68 degrees and it was 78 degrees in the house. Of course it was like 94 outside. But we had a great time. Lots of friends and family came to wish Zoey Happy Birthday. She really enjoyed her cake after she finally tasted it. She cried at first, but then we cut her a piece and she went to town. Again she had to hit the bath. She ended up with a chocolate beard and cake in every roll in her tummy. There was a chocolate layer on the bottom of the tub when we got her out, but at least the cake was enjoyed. Madison decorated it after she and Vince made it.
After bathtime, we headed outside to blow bubbles. Zoey loved chasing them around and visiting with her friend Tatum, who has the same birthday. They are so cute together. I'll post some pics from Tatums' precious party too.
Even though we said "No Gifts", Zoey made out like a bandit. Her favorite things are her drum set that her Aunt Lee, Uncle Tyler, and cousins gave her in honor of her Grandaddy (he loves to give the noisiest gift possible). She loves beating on that drum and wasted no time figuring it out either. She also loves her keyboard and with microphone that the Cantwells gave her. She is helarious with that microphone. She thinks it is so funny to hear herself, of course she has had to fight her big sister for it even though Madison has a real microphone and amp. Our precious friends the Osborn's made a donation to our adoption agency in her name, which really meant a lot to us! Obviously we all had a great day and hope to be able to get together with all of our friends more often. It was so great to get to see all their children as well, they grow up so incredibly fast!

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY ZOEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today our little China Princess is 1 year old! I can't believe we've been home that long. To think of how much she has changed and how much her life has changed in this past year is unbelievable. Stay tuned for some precious pics of our Zoey on her birthday!

Fun Summer Days With Cousins!

This is a quick pic from Madison's dance recital. Sadly, I don't have it on video. A friend tried to email it and I couldn't get it to work. She did an amazing job. This was her first year to clog and their performance was fantastic. Her teacher, Mrs. Alice, was awesome!

Madison is spending her summer days with her aunt, uncle, and cousins. They are really having a great time and doing all kinds of fun things. Yesterday (Thursday June 5), they went downtown to the art museum and had a "Pete's Famous Hot Dogs" picnic at Linn Park. These are some fun pictures from that day. I am so thankful that she is getting to grow up with these "sisters" as we call them because they are so close. Lee and I always said when we grew up that we were going to live next door to each other and have babies at the same time. Well, we live 12 miles apart and Madison is 8, Emily is 9 and Suzanna is 7, and Michela is old enough to babysit, so we have done pretty good.Michela, my 13 year old neice, has a picture hanging in the art museum right now, which we think is so awesome. Her art teacher took it to a show and was then was asked to hang it in the art museum for a show this summer. How cool is that and it is an amazing picture! If you are downtown be sure and go check it out!
