Good Morning

It's about 5:30 in the morning and of course us Americans are wide awake, Zoey is asleep like a rock. You guys are killing me with your comments. I've been sitting here bawling my eyes out reading them. And Joseph I have gotten all your comments, what's up with Buffalo NY? Last night I sat with Zoey on my legs, where I was laying down and she was sitting on my stomach with her back against my legs so she could face me and she just played for a good 45 minutes. It was so amazing to watch her. In just these few days she has changed so much. She is not sitting up but getting closer and holding her head up great. She is playing with simple things, like socks and her feet. She would rather have those things than any toys we brought her and it's easy to see how those toys would be overwhelming after not being able to hold onto or grab things because of being swaddled so tightly in her basket. She would just coo and babble at the sock or her toes and she finally pooped on her own, twice, thank the Lord! It's amazing how much that makes life better. One thing we still are working on is not screaming when laying down to change her diaper. I figure it because she associates being layed down with being left alone in her bed/basket for hours. She will cry and then start this kind of humming sound, a self soothing sound and it breaks my heart. We finally had a breakthrough last night with that and I was able to get her on her back for a diaper change with no crying. I just have loved the last two night of cradling her and giving her her bottle. She looks up into my eyes and grabs my finger, I just absolutely melt. We just love her so much. Looking at her all this time of waiting just fades away. Thank you God for such an incredible blessing.

I am so ready to hold that baby, I can't stand it. I can't believe you won't be home for another whole week! She is absolutely adorable. I know you are so happy. The pics from the orphanage are heartwrenching - I cannot imagine. It did seem nice and clean, but I can't believe they don't have heat. Those precious babies will have a home very soon though, just like Zoey. Thank goodness for people like you and Vince who were called to adopt a child. I keep saying it, but God is so good .. . let the blessings flow . . . love, Hope
P.S. we're under another winter weather advisory -- ice, snow, etc. - woohoo!

Oh my heart is gladdened to see how she is settling in. I pray that she continues to become happier and happier with you all (and that you all can sleep). Seeing the orphanage where she was had to have been tough, Katie's was very different...but again no heat. Hearing that a baby was crying and no one answered...broke my heart. I know Joy's heart broke as well (as did everyone there I'm sure).

So very happy for all of you! Adoption is truly a miracle, and God's hand in the entire process is so very evident. {hug}

Amanda,

Isn't it truly amazing to see these children change and "blossom" right before your eyes?! When I read your posts and see Zoey's pictures, it brings back such wonderful memories of seeing and holding Olivia for the first time and spending those first two weeks with her, watching her change a little every day. Zoey's face at times even reminds me of "baby" Olivia.

You are in store for such blessings from this experience and from the wonderful days, weeks, months, and years ahead once you get home. It just makes me want to cry thinking about your lives after you bring Zoey home. Even though we adopted Olivia in 2004, I still become emotional when I look into her eyes and remember that little baby that was handed to me in 2004. She was truly a miracle in our lives and I have no doubt Zoey is a miracle in yours.

God bless you! We are just overjoyed for your family!

Tell Madison she makes the best big sister!!

Love,
Jan

I love hearing about her...it sounds like she's already really bonded with you all. The pictures are priceless. Tell Madison that Suzanna thinks she's "kind of famous" for being a blonde and people wanting to have their picture made with her. Keep the posting coming. We love it! I'm glad you are getting to enjoy this time with her. She's a lucky girl!

It's hard to keep up with where you are in your trip - the whole half way around the world thing and all! While I read your post about the SWI I just bawled. I know that feeling. Glad you did it but it leaves you emotionally exhausted. Trust me you will always be glad that you went. If not just to be able to tell her how nice the people were that cared for her in her first months. When Mary Austin sees the video or pictures from our trip I can answer most of her questions about it and that is priceless. You all look great and tell big sister she is doing a wonderful job! How wonderful that she was able to go with you and be part of such a miraculous experience!
Thanks for letting me follow you on your journey; it brings back such wonderful memories.

What an amazing journey! Little Miss Zoey is precious! And she is blessed to be part of such a wonderful family. We think she actually looks like the Moore gang!!

Hang in there! We are praying for you all! Thanks so much for sharing the news and pictures.

Amanda I love the pictures! She is such an absolute doll. You are so intune to what she needs and wants already! What a great mommy you are! And Madison just has this glow about her that says "I finally have my baby sister!"
I am so excited for you during this time in China where precious bonding is taking place. I'm sure you're ready to come home, but looking back on our trip, that time in China was really essential and made our adjustment when we got home much easier (well, except for jet lag! ;)
Love the updates and love yall!

Amanda,Your entry made me cry. I can just picture her sitting in your lap. You are both so lucky to have each other. She is lucky because she has one of the sweetest, most caring, most loving, funniest moms around. You are so lucky because you have a little gift from God to enrich your life like you could never imagine. I am so proud of you and how strong you have been throughout this whole process. Even when you doubted things, I knew you would make it through all of it. And you are at the home stretch. Can't wait to see and hear more. I love you all!

The first thing I do every morning is go on this site to see if you've posted. Those pics of the orphanage made me want to come and take every one of those beautiful babies. You are such amazing parents. Zoey just naturally fits with ya'll. So I've decided you will bring fish lips to the next GNO!! I can't wait for ya'll to be home.
